Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard
The play expands upon the exploits of two minor characters from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the courtiers Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. The action of the play takes place mainly “in the wings” of the Shakespeare tragedy, with brief appearances of the play's major characters who enact fragments of the original’s scenes. Between these episodes Rosencrantz and Guildenstern voice their confusion at the progress of events occurring onstage without them and become further bemused by the appearance of the troupe of actors and their enigmatic leader. Directed by highly respected professional director Lucy Pitman-Wallace whose catalogue of work includes stints with the RSC and the National Theatre.
