Lark Rise - Blewbury Players open air production

18 July 2018 - 8:00pm - 21 July 2018 - 10:15pm

Lark Rise adapted by Keith Dewhurst from the novels by Flora Thompson and directed by Catie Flye. First performed at the National Theatre in 1978-79 and by the Players in 1983, Lark Rise brings back to life an Oxfordshire village in the late nineteenth century. With a large and colourful cast of true village characters of all ages and with music and song. Lark Rise ‘will send most spectators out wiser and happier human beings…one of those rare theatrical occasions with a genuine healing quality’, as Michael Billington wrote of the National Theatre’s production.   If you enjoyed our representation of Gloucestershire village life in Cider with Rosie, our re-creation of the Kentish Marshes and the streets of Victorian London in Great Expectations or our realisation of the frozen wastes of Narnia in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, all big cast productions with a strong sense of place, Lark Rise is for you.   We would love to see you in the audience.
