ODN BURSARY: NODA SUMMER SCHOOL LIGHTING DESIGN COURSE

The course is aimed at those with a good technical knowledge of lighting who wish to improve their skills in the creative field of design. 31 July-7 August 2010 at Loughborough University

Using a balance of theory-based and practical hands-on sessions, students will discover the techniques used by professional lighting designers. They will learn how to choose the right equipment for the job, how to work with the script, the director and other members of the production team….plus a lot more.

Course tutor is George Thomson who is currently technical manager at Scottish Ballet. He also works as a freelance lighting designer and is a guest tutor teaching lighting design at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama in Glasgow. During his 30 years in the business, he has lit over 400 professional productions around the world, in venues as diverse as Wick Town Hall to the Paris Opera House.

The ODN is offering £500 for someone to attend this residential course. (N.B. if not a member of a NODA affiliated group, the winner will need to pay £25.50 for individual membership of NODA). All we ask in return is that you write an article about your experiences in the Newsletter. Closing dates for applications is February 28 and the winner will be drawn from a hat at our AGM in March.
