‘Enchanted April’ by Matthew Barber
Wychwood Players’ next production for the Autumn will be
'Enchanted April' by Matthew Barber.
Previously a very successful 1991 film, starring Miranda Richardson, Josie Lawrence and Joan Plowright, it was nominated for three Academy Awards and Richardson and Plowright were awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
Hazel Hughes will be directing and says “It’s a charming story starting in 1920s London and ending in an Italian villa! Two housewives recruit two very different women to embark on a holiday and get away from their bleak lives. In their new enchanting surroundings they learn more about themselves - and one another - and regain precious happiness! It’s a wonderful and uplifting story for any month of the year!
The performances will be at New Beaconsfield Hall, Shipton under Wychwood OX7 6BQ on 27th, 28th and 29th November.
