Bartholomew Players Present “A Murder is Announced”
The Bartholomew Players are thrilled to announce their forthcoming production of Agatha Christie’s beloved Miss Marple mystery,“A Murder is Announced”, adapted for the stage by Leslie Darbon. The Players’ decision to put on an Agatha Christie sits well with this year being celebrated as 50 years since Christie’s death, the last 40 odd years of her life being spent in Wallingford, Oxon - and also Bartholomew Players celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. Apart from the Bible and Shakespeare, Agatha Christie is the most published writer globally with her work being translated into many different languages. The production will run from Wednesday, 13th May to Saturday, 16th May at Eynsham Village Hall.
The plot begins with an unexpected notice in the local Chipping Cleghorn Gazette: “A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October 29th, at Little Paddocks at 6:30 p.m.” What the neighbours assume is a playful game of "Murder Mystery" quickly turns into a deadly reality. Fortunately, Miss Marple is on hand to unravel a complex web of identities, motives, and secrets.
A Thriller for the Community
Directed by Debi Lisburne Diacon, this production promises to deliver the suspense, wit, and period charm that Christie fans adore. The Bartholomew Players have a long-standing reputation for high-quality community theatre having celebrated their 50th Anniversary last year, and with this staging of one of the Queen of Crime’s most famous works, they hope it will appeal to a wide audience.
